I was a customer of Orcon for 13 years. In the end I switched only because another company had a better deal (3 months free and $6/mo less ongoing). Orcon not willing to do new customer deals for long time customers so made teh switch. Seems to be a theme amongst most companies though so not exclusive to them. Coverage was great though with few outages, most of which were not ISP-specific. Support is outsourced but pretty good. We were initially with Xtra and Clearnet. We switched to Vodafone approximately 10 years ago. We were very satisfied with Vodafone for some time but found their online customer services deteriorated to the point where we have decided to switch to a local provider.
Pros
Excellent at billing regularly and penalising you if either your Broadband bill or Cellphone Bill is overdue by a day or two. Our internet is toggled to one of our cellphones. Tough, not negotiable. The total lack of support for email was the final straw. We were advised to use an internet based email. Shortly after so doing we had difficulties, within our settings, in sending emails. The Ninjas advised us that Vodafone no longer had the expertise to assist us. ...read more

They used to be great with customer support. Over the last year though I have never been treated so poorly by any service company. Many years ago we switched from ADSL to fibre with VOIP. The switch was not very clean but happened eventually. We had a static IP set up for the connection. Over the years, the static IP changed occassionally, usually when the account was upgraded to a higher speed. The last upgrade though was something quite special. The static IP was changed and the phone line was later disconnected. Over the last 3 weeks I would have spend about 7 hours on hold waiting for an operator to answer. In the ensuing conversations I have been lied to, put on indefinite hold and cut off. The phone line was reconnected but not with the number we had before. I've been told 3 times they would provision the old number back on to the line which not only didn't happen but there was no communication from Vodafone offering an explanation. Internet kept dropping out and has done for months. Really annoyed at Sparks extra charge for paying by credit card, just greedy adding that!! They also charged me an "Inconvenience fee" because I was a couple of days late paying one bill. No customer good will there. Would never recommend them!!

We transferred over from Spark. Worse thing we ever did. Contact transferred us over early leaving us with no service from 28 May. It is now 2 July and we still have no services. Their customer services are appalling and every time we call we are on hold for hours. We lodged a complaint and still nothing!

No service, worst customer service, extreme hold times. These guys should not offer a service they cannot provide. We are losing the will to live.
