Zeronet is New Zealand’s first sustainable provider of unlimited Fibre broadband internet. Zeronet provides Kiwis the same great internet, at the same low prices, but does this with far less impact on the planet. Zeronet will soon be certified* as New Zealand’s first carbon zero internet service. Zeronet plants five trees for every new customer. Zeronet’s electricity is produced from solar – when the weather permits.

Zeronet makes the online signup process quick and easy via www.zeronet.co.nz. We offer hassle-free set-up and connection with a supportive helpdesk team who avoid using confusing tech-speak. We encourage the use of your existing internet router wherever possible - so it doesn't end up in landfill. We also encourage the use of built in Wi-Fi boxes whenever possible.

*We work with Toitu Envirocare to measure our greenhouse gas emissions, offset them and be independently audited to achieve official certification of our carbon status.

Zeronet offers no customer support at all. They don't respond to messages for weeks on end. My internet wouldn't connect so I tried to contact them via email, Instagram, Facebook and live chat with no success for weeks. Finally after leaving comments on their Facebook page someone got in touch with me. I found that others were also having the same issue with no internet connection and having no response from their customer care team. I would not recommend them at all and couldn't wait to be switched to another company ...read more

Was fine for the first few months, then it got a bit slower, then the first major outage of a day or more, once finally sorted(they seemed to have little clue, blaming it all on those they buy services from), continually slower & patchier after that(sometimes to the point that youtube would only play at 240p-360p), then just had another major outage for more than 24hours(again blaming others), this time with zero support for seemingly anyone. Support had been ok early on, but it still didn't help with the 1st outage. Both times I found ways to get the internet working before they fixed the cause, but still lost many hours of access both times. Not reliable, and now non-existent support. ...read more
Pros
relatively cheap, sometimes speed can be what it's meant to be
Cons
unreliable, often poor performance, uneasy feeling that they don't know what they're doing

The worst customer service I've ever experienced. They simply ignore you, whether that be by Instant Message, Chat or email. They neglected to connect me on the scheduled date, gave me no explanation as to what the problem was, and gave no indication as to when the problem would be resolved. It's now day 4 of no internet, and I'm still waiting to hear back from them, having tried all avenues of communication without success.
Pros
Reasonably cheap, but not overly so.
Cons
Customer service is non-existent.

From day 1 they were painful to deal with messing up the order 3TIMES! Its hilarious on their website when you want to connect with them "We don’t have a phone number for customer support because waiting on the phone is slow and frustrating. Live chat is a much faster way to get help" When you do you can expect to repeat yourself 10 times, and wait at least 5minutes before each response and when you do get a response with who ever is on the other end , they are not in anyway informative or communicative rarely answering any actual question, which is beyond enraging. using the Care@zeronet address has most of the emails bouncing back as undeliverable if if you reply to theirs directly. Id say they are cheap because the service is appalling. Coupled with the SLOW. Im using the same Router and ONT and since moving to my new ISP with same package Im actually getting the bandwidth I was paying for. ...read more

I signed up, attracted by the 6 month offer, as well as the fact they do some carbon offsetting. I already had a working modem (owned not rented) so checked with zeronet's online chat box that the model would work. I was assured that there might be a few steps and potentially a reset required, but it would work. On the switchover date, it did not work. It took 1hr and 15minutes of idiotically going around in circles with the "have you tried resetting it" chat box operator before it was finally escalated to someone more competent actually ringing me. Then I finally had it confirmed that everything was working at their end, so actually maybe the router wasn't going to work with Zeronet. They offered to sell/rent one to me, it would take some days to arrive, but as I work from home with a big data requirement, that wasn't acceptable, so I had to rush to the mall and buy a new router with hardly any time to research which router was best for me. Lost half a day of work and had to make up for it at night.
In short, take their offer of BYO router with a grain of salt, have a backup plan on switchover day, and whatever happens, if you ever need help with anything don't bother wasting time with the chat box, just tell it to escalate to a phone call immediately.

Pros
Carbon offsetting, good 6 month deal, fast & reliable (to date)
Cons
The chatbox operator(s) are a bit clueless/treat you like a moron/and take several minutes to respond each time you submit text.
