TrueNet is an independent company dedicated to the accurate measurement and reporting of broadband performance in New Zealand. TrueNet was launched in July 2010 to fill a gap in the independence, accuracy and depth of monitoring and analysis of broadband services being offered to New Zealanders. TrueNet were able to combine their skillsets to implement a highly usable and effective set of broadband testsand they measure their success in improving ISP performance to meet a competitive network performance challenge.
One of the recent reports through up some interesting data around Vodafone and the speed of the Vodafone broadband network.
Put simply, Vodafone is suffering from some homegrown congestion. As you can see in the chart above, Vodafone shows a strong decline in broadband speed during the day and into the evening. Comparing Vodafone broadband speed with other NZ Internet providers shows that this is in stark contrast to all other ISP results on any fixed line technology. Fixed line technology is ADSL, VDSL, Cable and Fibre technology.
The trend which you can see in the chart above compare in greater depth on the TrueNet website shows the extent of the decline. The slow speed issues for Vodafone have been evident for some time and they indicate long standing congestion on the Vodafone Broadband Network -particularly with regards to NZ when connecting to major NZ websites.
If you are suffering from slow internet in the evenings and are on a Vodafone Broadband plan there may be better options. Compare broadband plans now on Broadband Compare.
