I did not feel the support needed after reporting a fault with my landine and internet. Left without phone line and internet for a week and no help forthcoming. I asked for a technician to come and check but was told to find one myself as theirs would be expensive. Time to find a new provider who listens and helps promptly.

Pros:

Having power included in one account

Cons:

No genuine support shown a week after fault has been reported. No internet and land line.

Overall Trustpower is a good ISP. If they spread out their servers they will be a great ISP. The fact that you get a good deal on power and internet access (the two main utilities not provided by council) in one bill is a unique feature.

Pros:

In comparison to Spark, this company has excellent customer service. The added feature of combining your power and internet bills into one is nice and convenient.

Cons:

I signed up for 100Mb per second. I don't receive that. The majority of the speed tests I get are around 16Mb. Upload is fine at 30Mb but the downloads is where its at. Spark did provide a minimum of 80Mb/s and a ping of 4ms. Now I have a ping of 36ms. I have since learned that Trustpower is in the Hamilton and do not have servers outside of that area. If they do not bring servers to Christchurch once my term contract has expired I will switch again. ...read more

The broadband connection seems to be going off line more so in the last 6 months.

Pros:

The Ultra fast broadband and being unlimited data was well priced.

Cons:

In the last 6 months broadband has been going off line about 4 or 5 times a week.

I switched to Trustpower from my old Orcon account several months ago to basically get the low cost for two years ADSL deal.

Pros:

Nice package, the NF10W is kinda cute and small and uses little power. Handy having billing simplified with Power.

Cons:

The free router from Trustpower Netcomm NF10W seems to have the buffer bloat problem with wifi. So gets really laggy when several wifi clients are connected. We have noticed that the wifi is worse compared to Orcon Genius. Measure your buffer bloat at www.dslreports.com ...read more

Power companies should stick to providing power. If you are slightly late with your power bill, they turn off your broadband so you have no internet and you have to pay $85 to have it turned back on. Trustpower are bullies!

I scored a lower value, as they entice you in as a new client, however once that term is up, they offer nothing for existing customers to stay. There seems to be no such thing as loyalty and yet they ask us to be loyal. Loyalty is a two way street. I even called them to see if they would match what we were going to move to, sadly no, so the switch is on.

Pros:

Reliable, convenient to have broadband gas and electricity on the one bill, also the tech cheque is a bonus.

Cons:

No incentive to stay with them, other suppliers offer a better deal that trustpower won't match. As mentioned above a great service but in todays economy every dollar saved counts.
