Back in 2007, Trustpower Phone & Internet (then known as Kinect), began providing phone services to residential customers. The same year, we began offering services over ADSL to residential and business customers.
In 2010, we successfully implemented an ISP network and began providing internet services directly to our customers. As is the case today, our service was supported by Trustpower’s strong wholesale relationships with network companies.
In 2011, the Government committed $1.35 billion to build an Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) network throughout New Zealand. We soon started planning to offer UFB to customers and connected our first ultra fast broadband customer in August 2012. Today, we provide over 500 customers with phone and internet services over UFB. Internet speeds range from 30 megabits to 100 megabits per second.
In 2013 we had 27,500 telecommunications customers. Over 16,000 of them were with us for their broadband service, and the number continues to grow.
As always, we strive to offer our customers quality service. We are also committed to ongoing innovation and excellence across the telecommunications sector. Trustpower is a member of the Telecom Carriers Forum (TCF).

Were very good initially then began to deteriorate over time. Made a mess of a relocation and were unable to provide fibre despite it being wired into the property.
Can be very good when they are on to it.
Can't retail fibre in all areas where fibre is available

The modem they supplied was totally useless and dropouts were basically daily or at best weekly. I bought my own and dropouts ceased immediately, proving the problem. However, every so often I'd be offline for a few hours and support never could explain why. This unreliability and slow internet were my reasons for changing.
It was cheap under their power and broadband bundle, so I saved money.

I did not feel the support needed after reporting a fault with my landine and internet. Left without phone line and internet for a week and no help forthcoming. I asked for a technician to come and check but was told to find one myself as theirs would be expensive. Time to find a new provider who listens and helps promptly.
Having power included in one account
No genuine support shown a week after fault has been reported. No internet and land line.

Nice and easy install and works great.
Internet speed is consistent and stable for streaming and browsing
slows down when rainy and no support after hour

Overall Trustpower is a good ISP. If they spread out their servers they will be a great ISP. The fact that you get a good deal on power and internet access (the two main utilities not provided by council) in one bill is a unique feature.
In comparison to Spark, this company has excellent customer service. The added feature of combining your power and internet bills into one is nice and convenient.
I signed up for 100Mb per second. I don't receive that. The majority of the speed tests I get are around 16Mb. Upload is fine at 30Mb but the downloads is where its at. Spark did provide a minimum of 80Mb/s and a ping ...read more

The broadband connection seems to be going off line more so in the last 6 months.
The Ultra fast broadband and being unlimited data was well priced.
In the last 6 months broadband has been going off line about 4 or 5 times a week.
