Vodafones billing system is NOT user friendly. It is almost like they keep the invoices confusing so that you cannot work out how Vodafone arrives at its billing totals(amount due) The invoices are not transparent and logical. If you ever have a problem with the invoices the call centre in the Phillipines cannot work out how it was charged. There is also a component of language barrier frustration when trying to explain what has happened - on both sides i'm sure! It is very difficult to bypass the Phillipine call centre to speak to a Kiwi when communication is failing. ...read more

Wi Fi is pretty reliable. Only the occasional drop out

Cons:

Lack of transparency and logical progression of invoices.
A definite language barrier at the call centre when calling about invoices.
Transition from the end of a years contract to the next fixed contract is unnecessarily stressful due to invoice mix-ups followed by stressful billing conversations with the call centre to sort out the invoices. ...read more

They discontinued my paradise email which was not only inconvenient (changing all those web site log ins etc,) but expensive as it made all my business cards, etc invalid! Then they installed broadband without notice on a Saturday and Sunday of the Whanganui Open studios which is usually my largest sale of the year! They blocked my drive which is the entryway to my studio. The noise was loud and penetrating. I complained to my council and they came back the next weekend Saturday as well but at least we're not there on the Sunday. We pay $300 to be a part of this tour and I lost far more in sales.

Vodafone's modem was not reliable - frequent outages for up to an hour a time. Once my contract was over, they immediately increased my monthly payments without notifying me of this. Worst of all, they are impossible to communicate with. I wasted three hours trying to speak to someone with any degree of authorty, only to be sidelined, cut off or ignored. I got nowhere. I was told I needed to speak to the retention unit. They didn't answer the phone. They will probably phone me after I have changed over, but it will be too late by then. One other thing - how come Fibre prices haven't reduced over time the way original broadband prices did? Is competition not a thing? ...read more

After my 12 month contract finished, they bumped up my monthly charges by $10 without explanation, and they proved impossible to contact despite my trying to do so for over three hours. Abysmal treatment of a long time once loyal customer. Maybe they don't want to stay in business? Absolutely lousy treatment of customers every single time you try to contact them.

Pros:

They exist.

Cons:

They don't care whether you exist or not. All they care about is profit and to hell with the mugs who sign up with them.

I changed to Orcon as I worked out that I would save nearly $500 in the first year, and I joined up with my mobile as well. The mobile is cheaper and has better features, i.e. unlimited talk time and far more gb. Also, vodafone don't do fibre, its some version of it.

They took $60 out of our account without authorisation on two consecutive months and then wouldn't refund the money unless we signed up for another two years. We have been with them for 9 years, purely because of the Sky deal. That is no longer available, so it is with great relief that we can finally ditch them. Terrible company. Don't be taken in by their cheap prices - they are cheap for a reason.

They employ unconscionable practices in an attempt to take as much money off you as they can. They now have their call centre in the Phillipines. Communication is terrible. The retention team will lie in an attempt to force you into another contract. Steer clear is my advice! ...read more

We have been on the TelstraClear Coaxial Cable Network since it's launch in Christchurch in the early 90's. It's fantastic with broadband, TV & telephone (copper based) all coming through the one cable. We have enjoyed "UFB" for years - still is faster than most Fibre systems (we have rental properties all over Christchurch and I have plugged my laptop in a tested speeds over VDSL, XVDSL and Fibre - none are better!). A common myth (Consumer to blame here also) that FibreX is "misleading" and doesn't contain any fibre components. What nonsense! The Coaxial network never extended all the way back to main exchanges... the coaxial cables are only residential to the street corner "cabinets". From there it is fibre all the way. Who would have been putting copper in the ground 10-20 years ago?? Even Clear Communications was running fibre up and down the country in the early 90's!! We love our Cable system - even if we have to put up with the crazy morons at Vodafone! ...read more

Vodafone have ignored my last 5 emails through their website and half a dozen txts to numbers theyve given me. Each call centre operator has promised to check up and get back to me and they never have. Internet often down.

Pros:

None

Cons:

The worst customer service ever. They also stopped my DD payments when I changed products (within Vodafone) and cut internet (with no notice) for non payment even though I’d emailed them about it.
