Trustpower Broadband

Best Bundled Plan 2018

Back in 2007, Trustpower Phone & Internet (then known as Kinect), began providing phone services to residential customers. The same year, we began offering services over ADSL to residential and business customers.

In 2010, we successfully implemented an ISP network and began providing internet services directly to our customers. As is the case today, our service was supported by Trustpower’s strong wholesale relationships with network companies.

In 2011, the Government committed $1.35 billion to build an Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) network throughout New Zealand. We soon started planning to offer UFB to customers and connected our first ultra fast broadband customer in August 2012. Today, we provide over 500 customers with phone and internet services over UFB. Internet speeds range from 30 megabits to 100 megabits per second.

In 2013 we had 27,500 telecommunications customers. Over 16,000 of them were with us for their broadband service, and the number continues to grow.

As always, we strive to offer our customers quality service. We are also committed to ongoing innovation and excellence across the telecommunications sector. Trustpower is a member of the Telecom Carriers Forum (TCF).

Just recently took up the package with free appliance. Worst decision ever. Although everything looks good on paper with pricing, the reality is quite different. Worst fibre experience ever. Worse than ADSL and they don't tell you about the 150ms delay before any data gets through. I can't use any apps on my phone. Instagram, AliExpress, Facebook also has weird delays and images never load. On a good day it may take 30 seconds to load a page with images. Half the time I'm using my data which is much better, no issues loading anything on my cell then. Shame on you trustpower! I should just go back to Spark. But they lock you in for 2 years with sub par service. I'm sure that is a breach of the law or standards in general. If you want to game, DO NOT sign up to Trustpower. Also if you are on social platforms, don't bother - I always miss my friends messages via instant messenger due to the delay. ...read more

customer service agents are great once you can get through to one. Getting through is a nightmare. Select * for call back option does not work on voice calls. Weekend covers appalling - 20 mins on hold then gave up. Had to pay postage and handling to get a replacement modem, new one arrived and is the slowest ever. Wifi signal is none existent. Dial up was better than current service!
Pros
customer service if you can ever get through
Cons

Networking is done badly, speed is usually good but DNS is not. For billing they assume mail is delivered nearly instantly. Phone socket on modems is disabled.
Pros
Decent speed
Cons
Supplied modems have a phone socket but it's disabled, and with my wiring any phone calls disrupt the modem's internet connection.
DNS lookup is very slow, over 10 seconds. Switched to Google DNS servers and had 5 times faster DNS resolution. Technical people are competent and friendly but limited by bad network design. ...read more

$5 increase in broadband bill at the end of a 24 month contract and no consultation that the increase was coming.
Speed and Reliability was average, we have to reset our router at least once a week.
