Had broadband with Compass for 18 months. Wasn't sure if I was paying for landline or not, it didn't work and I wasn't bothered about it. But I was paying. Switched to Slingshot, $19/m cheaper (no landline). Compass wanted $199 ETF. I deducted 18m @ 10/m that they owed me for landline and paid $19, now chasing payment (including approx $40 charge that they wouldn't explain) thru collections company despite my thorough explanation. Collections co referred me to TDR Service but Compass are not a member and I can see why. I have now demanded my $199 ETF back due to their poor attitude. ...read more

Easy swap, compass team gave me all the info I needed, transfer when as planned, even Chorus did their thing. New service running really well, had one call into support desk, easy as to deal with.
Pros
Local support, easy to contact, reliable
Cons
none

Not sure why others had issues but I updated from Wimax to Fibre with no issues. Apart from Chorus wanting to do a cheap job Compass/Connecta did what was required and when required. Those with contact issue should try Vodafone or Spark. When you get through you are dealing with some overseas call centre who gets paid if they perform or not.
Pros
Local call centre gets things done
Cons
Small team does mean a wait but no worse than the multinationals

Agreed to sign up, after a door-to-door salesman called, on the basis that there'd be minimal interruption to service as I work from home. He promised there would not.

After Chorus installed the fibre, they advised the service should be up in an hour. It wasn't. The next day, Compass advised it would be on the following day. It wasn't.

I've now been informed it will be another 3 days, bringing the total time disconnected to 6 days. And who knows whether THAT is true?

This company is guilty of deceptive and misleading behaviour, both by its sales and support people. I have lost revenue due to their dishonesty and incompetence and will be taking this to the courts and the Commerce Commission.

AVOID.

Pros
Nothing.
Cons
They fail to deliver, mislead and promise what they have no intention of delivering. Will leave you disconnected and lie about it rather than fix it.
